Tax Caregivers Who Grow Pot

Michigan - Regarding the article about the city of Royal Oak planning a ban on the growth and distribution of medical marijuana to those who need it: Michigan voted for the right to medicinal marijuana in 2008, and many cities have taken advantage of this and started taxing those who grow medicinal marijuana for themselves.

Royal Oak is thinking about passing the same ordinance that is implemented by Livonia, which is to ban caregivers of those prescribed medicinal marijuana from growing and distributing to at least five people. This is legal in Royal Oak, but the argument against it is that it violates federal law.

Instead of banning caregivers from growing and distributing medicinal marijuana, tax these people to bring in revenue to their city.

Banning the growth and distribution will only push Royal Oak residents to other cities where this ordinance is not in effect. That could push much needed millions of dollars out of Michigan. Once government realizes that these people will get marijuana regardless of the ordinance, we will profit and possibly even turn around the Michigan economy.

I hope that city council does not listen to the police chief and sets no limitations on medicinal marijuana.
