Two prosecutors were fired Monday after one acknowledged that people smoked marijuana in her home and another declined to take a drug test.

Bethany Jackson, 26, was hired by the Hillsborough County State Attorney's Office on Sept. 22. Derrick Valkenburg, 28, was hired Aug. 15, 2005. Both handled misdemeanor cases.

The office does not have enough evidence to pursue criminal charges, according to a statement.

On Monday, officials in the office heard that some assistant state attorneys might have smoked marijuana, the statement said.

When interviewed, Jackson told her superiors that she did not smoke marijuana but, on Friday, people in her home did. She was fired because she did not report the violation of Florida law.

Officials asked Valkenburg if he would take a drug test. He was "evasive in answering," the statement said. He was fired for violating an office policy that requires employees to voluntarily submit to drug tests.

Yeah I caught that too.. fuckin' hilarious. It definately is voluntary, as long as you can afford to lose your job. Hypocrits rejoice.

"required volunteering..." that's going to be the new slogan of the 21st century.
