Hello All. Here is my first indoor grow and I hope you all enjoy it along with me. I grow outdoors during the summer but due to a low yield this year I decided to give indoors a shot for some tasty personal treats to last until next years harvest. This post is for educational and entertainment purposes. The current grow space is 3'x3' and will spill out over the sides to fill a 4"x3" VSCROG. I started with 5 clones; 2 Blue Dreams, one Double Dream and 2 OG Kush. I intended to just practice my cloning techniques and keep a couple of OG Kush for mothers for next outdoor season but after vegging under T5s I decided to let em go and so I purchased a Platinum Grow Light P450. I vegged them from Nov 1 until Dec 13 under 3 T5s and on Dec 13 I installed my new platinum P450 and set it up. I had hacked the Blue Dreams all to hell with my experimenting and had the Kush in very small pots trying to keep them small. So not a real good start for the poor babies. I topped the Blue dreams the top 12 inches which left them about a foot tall. The Kushs were about the same height, about a foot. The Double dream was a little smaller.

Then after placing them under the P450, they all just took off. After just two weeks, the Blue Dreams are now 24 inches tall from the dirt line and the Kushs are about 20 inches from the dirt line. Al plants were topped twice except the poor BlueDreams. They were hacked, not topped. I built my SCROG and intend to put in place in two weeks, then veg another two weeks and then flip. I started the P450 with Veg only but have switched to full spectrum after the first week. Since vegging photos are boring, I only added a few photos. I'll have more to share after the New Year. Here's the specs:

And the start. The back two plants are BD and in the front left to right are DD and 2 OG Kush. This weekend, I'll take them out of the grow room for some better photos before I SCROG. Enjoy!

I just noticed one leaf with what looks like a little cal/mag deficiency. One leaf....hmm. I wonder if this is just a LED thing. I'll add some cal/mg with their next feeding just to make sure.

Most LED grows need some Cal-Mag, I give 5-8ml/gal at least every 2. watering.

Well it's been almost a week since first posting my grow. All is going well except for a few deficient leaves.

So when I gave them a good watering last Sunday, I made sure to add a teaspoon per gallon of cal/mag.
What do you guys think? Do these leaves look like cal/mag deficiency or some friends suggested boron deficiency.

Otherwise the plants are growing fantastically under the P450. Sunday, I also added my half VSCROG. It measures 50"x38". I had to prop up the DD as it is a very slow grower but bushy. The BDs are going crazy and the OG Kush just keeps making new tops especially one that I took clones from last weekend. I plan to Veg another three weeks to fill in the SCROG. So here's the boring Veg pics but I always enjoy looking at them. As before, BD in the back and DD and 2 OGs in the front.

To me I looks like Cal-Mag but don't know if 1 Teaspoon is enough as I use liquid 5-8ml/gal.

A teaspoon is 5ml.
5ml is a 'normal' strength, 10ml is considered 'Full' strength.

While it could be a boron deficiency it is not very likely unless you're experiencing ph fluctuation issues, a sterile medium with no micro nutrients, not to mention it would be far more likely in flowering.

What I personally think could be happening, is lockout.
You said you've got well water, I'm going to go out on a limb and say you've got calcium in your water.
abundance of dissolved solids in your well water could be causing a lockout of cal/mag. I could type the scientific reason out, but im kind of baked right now...
I'd suggest getting some RO cal/mag'd water and doing a light flush OR
doing a flush and just continuing to feed with the well water and stop using cal/mag.

Thanks for the input. I'll try a good flush next watering. Just started Cal/Mag last watering so I'll see if that helped first.

Update from this weekend. I started adding 1TSP/gal of cal/mag last weekend. The deficiency is gone. Lesson to self: Using LED lighting even using soil, requires cal.mag. I'd love to know the science behind this requirement. Since this is a remote grow, (I live elsewhere) I'm always anxious to see how the girls are doing each weekend. This weekend, I couldn't believe how much they have grown through the VSCROG. I tucked some tops under the net and super cropped a few more. By the end of the Saturday, they were all poking through again. The net is almost full now 50"x38" although there is still a ways to go getting the OG Kush a little bushier. So I plan to tuck em and bend em again next weekend and then flip to flower on the 25th of this month. I really think I need to supercrop them one last time before I flip the switch to even out the canopy. What do you guys think? Is it OK to supercrop a week before flipping? Anyway, here's a few shots from this last weekend.

Don't know the science but it happens to most grows with LED.

Updates for 1/30 and 2/1
HI All, Forgive my absence but Veg photos are kinda boring. My VSCROG has filed out pretty nicely. The BDs and OGKushs are kicking butt. I'm keeping the DD but he's not doing too much. On 1/18 I super cropped them all trying to keep the height down. Well that did little to help. All of the tops just sprang back up by the next morning except for two OG tops that I broke. So on 1/19 I flipped the lights to 12/12. Here's how they looked by this weekend. The BDs keep stretching almost to 21" above the VSCROG and so do the OGs. The DD is trying to stretch and is flowering. I figure one more week of stretch and then a good haircut next weekend. I saw the first pistils starting a week later and by days 11 and 12 I could see that the BDs are going to bud like crazy. I also switched nutes to Flora Nova Bloom by General Hydro.

Here they are growing up to my P450 which is hanging 9 inches now from the 8 foot ceiling.

Again, I am using FoxFarm Ocean in 5 gallon buckets and the VSCROG measures 50"x38". All branches are reaching towards the light and leaves some empty room in the VSCROG. Then again I never trained these plants for Scrogging so I couldn't do too much tucking down during Veg although I tried. But I have to say that the P450 is giving great coverage up to 48" long and 30+" wide. Back with more pics next weekend. Lastly here's a shot looking directly into the bud jungle.

Update Feb 9 Day 20 of Flower
All is going pretty good except I didn't water one of the BDs last weekend and it was a drooped out mess when I arrived last Friday. I gave it a good gallon and a half of water/nutes and he came back a little but some of the large branches creased over and slowly died. Oh well there are plenty more branches. The DD is almost covered over by BD but the way it has grown so poorly, it's not a big loss. The P450 is doing a great job and I can clearly see the best footprint for flower. All the largest tops are reaching toward the light and those directly under it or real close have the advantage and are much taller the those on the outskirts. But overall the light is working great. I am on Day 20 of flower and you can see for yourself. I just love the photos of the glistening stars all over the plants. The BDs are kicking butt and I look forward to some big colas from these girls. Here we go:

Update 2-17
Sorry about the pics with my last post. No matter which editing software I used to convert the images, they still were upside down here on 420. So this weekend I took some more pics on Day 26 of flower. I'm giving them 2.5 tsps/gal of Flora Nova Bloom and 1 tsp/gal of Cal/mag each week. The BDs are drinking a lot compared to the OG Kush and the DD. They all seem to be doing well except the DD. I did some pruning leaving mainly the cola stalks. Lots of bud sites were covered by fan leaves. First are my favorite two shots looking down at all the shining stars.

Update 3/1/15
Well here are some photos of day 40 of flower. I lost most of one BD and the supercropping I did late on the OG resulted in another loss of bud sites. But things are still coming along just fine for the survivors. I'm just starting to see some orange hairs on the BD top colas but the other buds are all pure white pistils. So I'm starting to think that these BDs will go a full 9-10 weeks and the OG probably around the same. A few bent up/ curled up leaves at the top colas so I redirected my fan a bit and I'll start decreasing nutes next feeding leading up to a good flush. Overall I'm very happy with the results from the P450. I would have more good colas if I had actually planned to flower these experimental plants in advance. My electric bill for flower using one P450, two small fans and a thermostatic heater is running about $40/month....not bad at all! During Veg, my electric was $80 running 18/6 and the heater had to work harder since the surrounding rooms were unheated and I live in the mountains.

BTW, the OG Kush is old school OG: Chemdog, Lemon Thai, and Pakistani Kush. I have 6 clones ready for planting today and they will go outside in May. Check out the super frost on the OG pics below.
