depends on what I'm rolling. If I roll a joint and aren't rushed, I may roll up a bit of cardboard and throw it in as a filter, but I generally try to roll mine cone shaped with a narrow tapered mouthpiece. This holds the weed in, and creates good draw and gives a really even burn. I roll blunts the same way, and never use filters with blunts. If you can fit a filter in the end, the mouthpiece is too wide is how i see it lol.
I also smoke 100% weed in whatever I roll. If I were mixing with tobacco, I might use a filter more.
