Swapping Ballasts

Ok, super rookie question here. It'll be abundantly obvious how new I am to growing in just moments. I have a mix max of items on order to get my own grow room going. I have a 19 inch winged reflector with a 600w ballast coming but I wanted a better, air cooled light. So I ordered a 27 inch air cooled reflector with 1000w ballast. However, my bulbs are all 600w. Instead of using the 1000w ballast that comes with the air cooled reflector can I easily install the 600w ballast onto it? I'm not sure what the wiring is like or if the sockets are the same size.

Yes the wire should be the same. Most reflectors I have and see can use 400-600-1000 bulbs. Plugs are the same. There is one hood company that has to have a adapter that I herd of I do not remember what that name of the company is called. If you post the brand and model number I will look it up for you.
