Why not just pain the room flat white? You'll get a pretty good reflectivity off of it, and you won't have to hassle with putting up plastic. Alternately, I've heard people use velcro to keep mylar up, and it's nice because it allows you to adjust and smooth out the wrinkles. Just be careful...
