Is Anyone Using Phillips 315 Watt Ceramic Metal Halide?

That guys has popped in on a thread, he doesn't seem to keep a journal, on another forum that I poke around in. Turns out he runs a sealed room with CO2 and AC to keep things cool (which would be necessary with a sealed room). He thought four 315s in a 5x5 would be overkill but for better or...

Haha, sorry man...I know how you feel though. I just finally weighed my last harvest for the first time, just out of curiosity. I got about .47 grams per watt of good bud, not counting trim or larfy stuff, with my 1140w lighting. I don't care too much about that but I was curious and I'm...

Well four 315s in a 5x5 would be 50.4 watts/sq ft but maybe you're talking about a smaller tent.

Here's a guy who's packing in 315s at what looks like similar spacing as what I would be doing with 4 in a 5x5 tent. In his words..."I'm absolutely KILLING it with these 315s".

That said, if I go with CMH I'm sure I'll start with 2 lights for a grow. If only to keep it from dinging my wallet too hard at once.

Is Anyone Using Phillips 315 Watt Ceramic Metal Halide?

Well, Dogwash has 2 lights in his same size tent and he's looking to add supplementary light. So I guess the answer is that no, 2 lights with a 3'x3' footprint each don't appear to be sufficient for a 5x5 space. I don't believe that it would double the crop, I don't think plants and lights are...

Agreed about the heat. I doubt that I'll make a decision until mid summer so I'll have a chance to better monitor the ambient temps around the tent during the hot part of the year and better speculate on my ability to keep temps down in the tent. The dimensions of the reflectors (wing type)...

Yes the COBs are interesting but it's still hard to find real information about them other than folks who just bought them and now say they do everything short of curing cancer, I've found. They aren't cheap but their individual components are pretty doable if you buy a little at a time, which...

Is Anyone Using Phillips 315 Watt Ceramic Metal Halide?

Are you asking what COBs are? If so, they are the current latest and greatest LED grow light. They're fairly easy to build yourself and there is a new market for kits where the wiring and components are figured out then the customer puts the lights where they want them. Fairly modular...

Is Anyone Using Phillips 315 Watt Ceramic Metal Halide?

Ya, it would be a lot of light. I figure since one 315w has a flowering footprint of 3x3 there would just be a half foot of overlap between fixtures and in that overlap the combined light would be closer to the quality of full lighting found under the fixture (plus the value of cross lighting...
