Hey 7thSense. Semiosis here. I make a lot of medibles, as it were. I commend you on making a cbd/thc hybrid available--not everyone appreciates how wonderful it can be for things like anxiety. I hear what you're saying. My experience is that tinctures are always going to have that terrible taste, simply because most of the time you're doing what amounts to almost burning off the solvent, but stopping before you're done. Even if it's not particularly harmful, there's really no disguising that acrid tang, regardless of how clean it is. Some people use peppermint oil, and it cuts into it, but meh. You could theoretically add the alcohol tincture to something that's strong enough to disguise that taste, but then you lose the easy dosing and people may not like what you put it into, and you may not want to do that much. One of the things I could suggest you do is to simply finish the process of burning off the oil--either quickly through (no more than 200 degree f) low heat until the mixture stops bubbling or slowly by letting it sit--until you have only pure cannabis oil left, which smells a lot better. Then you could add a small amount of carrier oil it to it in order to be able to work with it--it can get difficult and wasteful to work with pure sticky stuff. For example, an equal small amount of MCT oil, which is supposed to have other health benefits, is also odorless and tasteless. Doing so aids in absorption and makes the medicine a lot more available because it's imbedded in a lipid. Some people simply don't absorb well, and alcohol is not something that sticks around for very long or is very friendly. Maybe you thought of these things already, but I thought I'd chip in.

I know that some people say that it's more available as a tincture, sublingually, when it's alcohol, and it may be so, but that hasn't been my experience and I don't know why it has to taste that way. Then again, people's experiences are different. it has always appeared to me that the material takes the time that it takes to absorb, and you're not increasing that by much by holding it in your mouth. But if you're going that way, maybe a candy people can keep in their mouth until it's gone. You could add your tincture to various things (e.g.: gummies from fruit juice, as long as you have an emulsifier) to infuse it that way. Lol. I'll let it go. Let me know if I could help. -S

I did think--I'd put the tincture in lemon drops. They're fun and tasty and citrus-tangy enough. Or lollipops.

My sincere thanks Semiosis for your experience and insights. Would you be up for connecting on a Telegram or Zoom chat to discuss the intricacies of this project?

I've little to offer but my curiosity, and it's been piqued. I am ignorant of the product and the process - do I understand it that alcohol is a major infusing agent here, it disappears by process' end, but it leaves a bad taste? Would laying on commercial terpenes mask this, and is this why commercial terpenes exist? I've been curious what their use might be. I get that's not really a solution - we want our own hard-earned terpenes to be front and center. Just curious.

Your actually right on bro and so I have taken a lot of that to heart and come up with the following worthy solution. Once you decarb your Cannabis for 27mins at 250 degrees and let it cool to the point of being able to break it up gently to release the natural terpene profile you can add that to your mason jar and then instead of a pure alcohol derivative like vodka or white rum I used 80% proof Golden Seal Capt Morgan spiced rum and then layed a small cover of Glad wrap over the jars opening to make sure it didn't come into contact with the steel lid (corrosion breakdown when shaking) and then labeled it and put it in a cool dark place for 4-6 weeks. The key to eliminating the smell and the taste is to distill your CBD/THC Tincture twice with coffee filters, funnels and vigorous shaking. I also vigorously shook the fusion mix for at least 5mins a day for the first week. After that just once a week at 5mins. This really allowed the Cannabinoidal elements to really leech into the alcohol. After the straining process I was left with a very clear (not cloudy) green tincture with a high content hybrid Terpene profile. I then added this tincture to my sugar free gummy bear recipe and the results were spectacular.

Now the new issue I would like to address is what sort of ratio to the pure tincture can I dilute with organic MCT oil to make a better supply of pure infused oil. So 200ml of pure tincture to what % MCT oil do I need to look at?
