Building a smoke filter/fan

Hello all,

I hope someone can help me, I found on the internet a way to build a cheap fan to clean smoke smell from ciggerettes out of the air.

I have a DB206 in line duct fan.

I put it togehter with a 6inch to 4 inch vent cover which goes into 8 feet of air duct and out to a home made carbon scrubber filter.

The only thing is that I dont know if it will work good, we arent allowed to smoke cigs in my place, so I dont want to test if out, unless I know for sure.

I turned it on, and and I get alot of back pressure coming out of the fan, and there is no pressure coming out of the air filter.

So is this the right fan, or should I try something else. I seen on here people using a small box fan from graniger.

Any insite will be a positive.

Thanks

Those type fans are designed to boost the flow on long runs of AC/heating ducts. They won't move much air by themselves.
