Sen. Michael Bennet, D-Colo., wants the federal government to allow more marijuana research licenses.

Bennet has introduced an amendment that would allow at least three research licenses in each state that has legalized medical and recreational marijuana - such as Colorado.

Currently, the federal government only allows one research license per state because marijuana remains an illegal drug under federal law.

Bennet is pushing to have his language added to the Senate appropriation bill for the departments of Commerce, Justice, and some related agencies.
