LAPEER COUNTY, Michigan – Employees of Dryden's Compassionate Care Center of Michigan plan to head to the Lapeer County Sheriff's Office at about noon today to protest the recent raids of medical marijuana dispenaries.

Randy Crowel, who operates the center, said buses of medical marijuana advocates will be arriving at the department around noon, then will travel to Oakland County Sheriff's Office to protest there.

The dispensary was originally raided Aug. 31 because police believe the center is not following state law and dispensing too much marijuana.

Lapeer County Sheriff's Lt. Gary Parks said about 100 people visit the dispensary daily.

The center was raided twice more last week, along with a location in Metamora.

Marijuana plants, records and other items were confiscated.

No one was arrested and Parks said he plans to forward the investigation to the prosecutor's office this week.

Crowel said his home was also searched by police last week.
