Georgia's commission on medical cannabis met for the second time on Wednesday to discuss how the drug could be manufactured and distributed here.

The group which includes State Representative Allen Peake from Macon heard from four manufacturers who are growing and selling medical cannabis oil in other states.

Peake says the purpose was to figure out which system would work best for Georgia. He says they were looking at things like how to set up licenses for growers, and how many licenses to give out.

Peake says, "At the end of the day this issue is all about helping Georgia families, and helping Georgia citizens and as long as we're moving the ball down the road to where we can get a safe and effective delivery system of medical cannabis to those citizens that are hurting then we're moving in the right direction."

Peake says the commission will have two or three more meetings before December when they will present their proposal to Governor Nathan Deal.
