Worcester County's first medical marijuana dispensary has opened in Leicester.

The Worcester Telegram & Gazette reported that Cultivate Holdings Inc. cultivates, processes and dispenses medical marijuana from a 23,000-square-foot facility on 1764 Main St.

Cultivate officially opened to the public last Friday. The facility is open every day from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The dispensary offers nine strains of marijuana with differing amounts of THC and CBD that can produce different effects, the Telegram & Gazette reported.

According to the company's website, discounts are available for veterans, seniors and those with financial hardships.

The site allows users to find a certified doctor and register with the state to receive medical marijuana.

According to state law, patients suffering from a debilitating medical condition may possess a 60-day supply of marijuana prescribed by a Massachusetts-licensed physician.

Last year, Massachusetts legalized recreational use and possession of small quantities of marijuana. In 2018, commercial marijuana shops are expected to open in the state.

Prices at Cultivate range from $50 for an 1/8 of an ounce, to $350 for a full ounce of marijuana, the Telegram & Gazette reported. Cultivate has hired 20 people at the facility, and expects to hire 30 more in the coming months.
