A Georgia House of Representatives Committee is reviewing House Bill 722.The process started Monday as Judiciary Non-Civil Committee members listened to stories of people who need or know someone who needs the drug for pain relief. HB 722 includes a model for growing medical marijuana in Georgia. State Representative Allen Peake modeled the system after Minnesota's. He claims it is the most tightly regulated structure in the country.

One committee member said he wasn't comfortable with the language of HB 722 because he feels it opens the door to recreational marijuana use. Peake and some who testified Monday assured him that is not the case.

The committee will hear from people who are against the bill Wednesday. The committee will meet again to go over the details of the bill once the wording is reworked.
