MinnMed is considering bringing a medical marijuana dispensary to Eden Prairie.

On Monday, the Eden Prairie Planning Commission recommended approval of changes to the city code that would address this type of dispensary. They were not considering a specific proposal or site.

Bob Kingsley, CEO of MinnMed, presented information about his business and answered Planning Commission questions. He said that the goal was to provide pharmaceutical-grade medications in a model that you would be comfortable living next door to.

"Minnesota Medical has stated that it expects to operate a facility that is approximately 3,000 to 3,500 square feet in size and anticipates the need for approximately 15 parking stalls, assuming providing service to roughly 80 persons per day, under the current state provisions," according to the Planning Commission meeting information.
Kingsley said the dispensaries would be very secure and follow Minnesota laws.

There were no questions from the community during the commission's public hearing.

Next the code changes would go to the Eden Prairie City Council for approval.
