Multiparameter meter question

I am looking into obtaining a Hanna hand held pH/EC/TDS-temp meter "Unless you have input to something better?" But noticed there are two models to chose from, one with High range EC and one with Low; Bringing out my question as to what one I need?

The one I have (can't remember right off the number) is the low ec range. What this means that once it gets to 2000 ppm, it stops showing the ppm. I add plain pH'd water and the readings come back (after the res drops below 2000 ppm).
