STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. – The town board of Oak Creek in northwest Colorado has voted to boost fees for operating medical marijuana dispensaries and growing operations.

The Steamboat Pilot & Today reports that the board passed draft legislation this week that would raise the initial application fee for a dispensary to $2,500, up from $750. It would raise the initial inspection fee from $150 today to $1,500.

For existing dispensaries and grow operations, annual licensing and inspection fees that were $75 each will now be $1,000 apiece.

If a business is found out of compliance in an inspection, an additional $1,000 inspection fee will be assessed for each instance.

However the future of marijuana dispensaries in Oak Creek is in doubt. In November, voters will decide whether to ban them.
