Medical marijuana offers many healing properties with many different application methods depending on the individual patient's needs and preferences. Long gone are the days when smoking was the only option to using marijuana.

"A lot of negativity surrounds the smoking culture, and it is important to me to stress the medical benefits side of marijuana. My goal is to help the general public learn that there are safe ways to use medical marijuana that are not damaging to your body," said Pat Sullivan of SBHC. "We're here to serve our patients and make sure everyone is well oriented to the medical benefits of medical marijuana. We want to educate the public about the healthy medical side of marijuana, not the recreational side of it."

South Bay Healing Center offers a large non-smokable menu sometimes referred to as "edibles." Safe and regulated edibles have been a focus for SBHC since they opened their doors in February of 2010.

Due to the fact that there is not a governing board or set of standards in place for edibles, SBHC has developed a set of criteria that their edibles must pass before reaching their patients including being made in a food-safe certified kitchen along with food handler safety certificates from the producers, the highest level of packaging and presentation, a reimbursement rate per edible comparable to the level of medication provided, a system of "dose" measurement, and third party lab tested results on the quality of the medicine contained in each edible. Producers are also required to provide born on dates and expiration dates. All staff members at SBHC have thorough training on edibles to ensure they are providing accurate information to each patient.

"We have created our own custom edible which is offered here only, the 'T-wrex' which is made from all high grade lab tested medicine, in a food safe certified kitchen," said Pat. "We have also started working with a partner patient producer to supply our patients with lab tested Canna Caps, which are one of the healthiest way to take medical marijuana. The active ingredients of the marijuana are consolidated into small gel caps that can be taken simply with a glass of water. No smoking necessary, no large sweet edibles with additional sugar or fat necessary, a pill or two with one glass of water and the patient will feel relief within the hour."

SBHC has a very large menu of high quality edibles that can be used with many different delivery methods depending on the patient's needs. Some of their more popular items include SBHC Canna Caps, T-wrex, hot and cold beverage options, medicated butter, tinctures, hard candy like lozenges, and cookies and baked goods.
