The Board of Education expelled a Stafford High School student last month after the student was found to be in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia on school grounds on Oct. 13.

School Superintendent Therese Fishman said Friday she couldn't comment on the specifics of the expulsion. However, the expulsion was discussed at the school board's Oct. 23 meeting, and the agenda stated that Fishman was recommending the expulsion.

Minutes of that meeting stated that the outcome of an executive session on the matter resulted in the school board voting 6-0 to expel the student.

The minutes don't say whether the student is a boy or a girl and whether the student was also arrested in connection with the drug possession on school grounds.

The student can apply for early re-admission to the high school for the fourth quarter of this school year. The student can do that by submitting an application to the school superintendent for consideration by the school board no later than its scheduled meeting on or about March 26, 2007 meeting, the board's meeting minutes state.

The school board will condition the student's readmission on satisfactory participation in substance abuse counseling at the parent's expense, no unexcused absence from tutoring, and maintaining a satisfactory academic record, the minutes state.

In the event of re-admission, a failure to comply with the conditions will result in revocation of the re-admission and reinstatement of the full period of expulsion, the minutes state.
