Teen accused of growing marijuana

SPRING HILL, FL. - A 14-year-old boy was arrested Wednesday morning after a caseworker visiting his home found four marijuana plants growing on his bedroom windowsill.

The teen, whose name is being withheld by the Times because of his age, was charged with cultivation of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance, a Hernando sheriff's report stated.

The worker from Kids Central Inc., a private consortium that handles foster care and related services for at-risk children in the Department of Children and Families' District 13 , also found two plastic bags containing marijuana seeds inside a toolbox and reported the discovery to authorities.

The four marijuana plants were valued at $4,000, according to the report.

The Sheriff's Office placed the drugs into evidence and later released the teenager into his mother's custody. District 13 includes Citrus, Hernando, Marion, Lake and Sumter counties.

4,000 bucks???? Yeah right! I can pick up a sapling from my cnnabis club for 10 bucks a pop. Seeds through the mail cost about 50-200 bucks (depending on quality and location) for 15. It costs nothing to put the seeds in soil and let it sit in the sun, and even if the plants were fully matured, a windowsill plant at this time of the year would probably produce, if the grower knew his shit, an ounce at the most. AN ounce around here runs about 300 for mids, 400 for bomb. 4 grand is fucking ludacris.
