No, the only thing being added is Fox Farms Tiger Bloom in recommended doses. I will try adding calmag. Any advice on how much? Can surely research, just curious what your take is.

That's definitely a possibility, as I think the soil pods were about 3-4 years old. By going bad do you mean that it could affect the plants, or is it just the natural nutrients or whatever drying up? My question, should I tell him to tear off the "infected" parts of the pod or would it be fine...

I also did the Certo method. Worked for me a couple times, failed for me a couple times. It was the only thing I ever did that worked even once, though, so that's the only reason I recommend it. Does put your stomach through hell and back, though. Lots to consider.
