POTM 420 Magazine's Plant of the Month: February 2016

Some awesome specimens, aren't they? This is another reason I agitate for legalization. Cannabis breeders and growers put in the same kind of devotion and effort to their craft as any vinyard, winery, or brewery. And just like wine and beer drinkers, we get giddy about colors, tastes, and...

Dark Devil Auto: A Community Grow Record

27 days until my outdoor Dark Devil grow starts. Here's the plan. I'll probably start the seeds inside in about two weeks to give the plants a head start. Should be able to sprout them and have a few days, depending on the weather, to harden them off. I don't want to get caught in the woods...

Wow! That's a beautiful plant, and the flowers look amazing. Looks like a solid yield too. Good job!

Dark Devil Auto: A Community Grow Record

Growing anything is definitely a craft. It's a nurturing relationship with a living thing, just like raising kids or horses. Okay, plants don't wake you up in the middle of the night or kick you, but you know what I mean. :) And it's a relationship with the Earth itself. I don't know anyone...

Interesting rig. LST looks a lot like bonsai training. I did some bonsai years ago, so maybe some of that experience will come in handy. The only real difference is the time factor, since cannabis grows much faster than a tree. Can't take months to get a branch where you want it.

    Growing on a budget

You mean those reusable bags? I'm going to try some of them in the regular garden this year. They're $1 a piece at the local grocery, so even if they only last one season, it's not a bad price. I also got a roll of burlap. Sewed one container out of that so far, but It's awfully slow by hand. I...

    Growing on a budget

It's that hillbilly thinking. It's the reason I still use jelly jars for drinking glasses. :) I got a good idea off your journal. Plastic knives for plant labels is good thinking. I have a few store-bought labels, and I've cut a few out of plastic containers, but the knives look like the way to go.

Dark Devil Auto: A Community Grow Record

Well, I'm officially a Dark Devil owner now. The seeds finally arrived! Still some decisions to make and actions to take. Looking into some screening/camouflage plants for the outdoor grow. Some tall grasses, thistles, maybe even some sages should help keep the key plants safe from casual...

    Surly Texas Curmudgeon

There have been some more direct joint Canadian-American military operations too, like the DEW Line. That was a case where the USA depended heavily on Canada for our own security. It's interesting to look at American relations with Canada, which are fairly friendly and helpful, and our...

    Surly Texas Curmudgeon

I think it comes down to the nuances of the word "depend". Dependence can get unhealthy, but you can have mutually beneficial dependencies too, more like the dependencies you find in a healthy ecosystem. It's called an alliance when it's between nations, and I like to think of Canada and the USA...

Dark Devil Auto: A Community Grow Record

Yeah, I'm pretty casual about the whole thing. Just some plants, no big deal. I lie. :) I just saw that my order went from "pending" to "completed", and I squealed so loud it scared the dogs. My seeds are flying! If everything goes according to schedule, it's 44 days until the first planting...

Dark Devil Auto: A Community Grow Record

Smokability aside, it's a beautiful plant. Picture a whole line of those bordering a walkway. It'd look awesome! Still waiting for my seed order to go through. Still planning to do an outdoor grow. Considering biting the bullet and growing a couple of them indoors, just so I have a better...

Would like to hear from old timers like myself - the 70s

Yeah, it pretty much was just pot then, wasn't it? I don't think we even knew there were different kinds then. Maybe some vague rumors of Panama Red, but we never saw it. And no weighing. It was a three- or four-finger bag, about half bud and half shake. And strawberry papers! :)

Would like to hear from old timers like myself - the 70s

Re: would like to hear from old timers like myself..the 70s Black light rooms. Yeah, I remember those. And don't forget plenty of bead curtains. Great music! Great times!
