How close should an led be?

I'll be using it for some of my bonsai moms. I've read about ppl having the lamps die on them prematurely. We'll see how it works out and I may order another.

I used potatoes on my dry day and then watered with a CO2 additive. I had them pretty bad and that killed them all.
