Officials are usually called to respond to a pot burning on a stove, not pot burning in a fireplace.

But that's just what they found on Tuesday when police responded to an odorous complaint coming from 14 Mine Hill Road.

Upon arriving around 4 p.m.,police said they found Douglas Graver, 47, of Perkasie burning marijuana and other drug-related material in his fireplace. Graver is the owner of the property, which he was renovating.

Further investigation revealed approximately 127 marijuana plants being nurtured indoors by a hydroponic growing system, which uses light and water to create a flourishing cannabis climate.

In other structures on the property, several pounds of marijuana, cash, drug distribution materials, 21 generators, high-powered growing lamps and fertilizer were also found. Police estimate the street value of the drugs to be near $250,000.

Charges have been filed with Montgomery County Court, including possession and possession with intent to deliver.

Assisting Lower Frederick police in the investigation were Norristown, Lower Pottsgrove, Upper Providence, Collegeville and Marlboro police departments, as well as the Montgomery County district attorney's Drug Task Force.
