400 watt hps.

Hey everyone, I got 2 400 watt HPS lights, that are the big shop lights, they are 240 volt multi tap ballasts, has anyone used these type of lights before? the ballasts wiegh about 12lbs each, is there any reason these wouldnt work? Also how big of an area will 1 400 watt hps cover?

400w will cover about a 4' X 4' area.

Lots of people have grown lots of weed with those lights. They work just fine.

For some reason, I thought those weighed a lot more than 12 pounds, but if that's all they weigh, even better.

If you're not familiar with rewiring it for 120, I would get some help for that part of it.

Thanks SS, Ya they are pretty heavy, probably closer to about 20lbs a piece..
wiring isnt a problem, I used to be an electrician.. Im actually thinking about running them on 220 volts, I can put in a 220 box and go from there.. thanks on your reply though..

yeah, they're a little heavy, just make sure you hang them securely.

They should work great!
