Adding perlite and lime to SM#4 Aggregate Plus

Sunshine Mix #4 Aggregate Plus already has extra perlite, but I’d like to get some extra drainage/aeration in there. How much more can I reasonably add?

Should I be adding lime? If so, how much?

Hey buddy hope your doing well. :high-five:
I run coco/ perlite but have used soil aswell.
I run a method with 1 inch layers of perlite between extensively perilited soil.
Could be as much as 60/40 in soil.
Works wonders.
I had excellent growth in the greenhouse with led. lighting.
@Bill284 Method I have dozens of pictorials explaining it all if your interested.
Take care.
Talk soon.

Howdy well if you do add extra drainage crushed oyster shell works ok get some heavy metals in oyster shell though or pumice or perlite i pref the first 2 because they stay put and don't float to the top idk about amount id have to see and run My hands through the soil and is it really necessary to add more or do you add Xtra compost or worm castings to your mix?✌️

Hey buddy. :ciao:
Never used oyster shells.
Strictly perlite.
I was feeding those girls in soil 5 litres/ pot full strength nutrients every day yeah in soil.
Every day, they were huge.
7 foot tall forest.
All with perlite oh and bokashi, frass & DYNOMYCO.
But you knew that.

So it sounds like I can’t really “overdo” it with the perlite. Especially if some folks are doing well in straight perlite.

How about the lime?
What was the purpose? Buffer it's ph?
I haven't used that product but it's just basic soil correct? Sunshine mix #4.
You get it at Canadian Tire?
But regardless soil usually self sets ph to whats required.
I don't see a need if this is the case.
If not sorry, then why? :Namaste:
But as far as ph goes I'd leave it out.

My apologies.
What I managed to find said it was soil.
Your going to just have to ph your nutrients then.
Calmag first then nutrients in order according to the schedule then set ph to 5.8 and feed.
Sorry this is all I could find.
Said soil :Namaste:
But probably glorified BX.
