1. Bakersfield Raid Update, Acquittal and Conviction but No Jail Time for Ed Rosenthal, Patients Report Overwhelming Demand for LA County ID Card

Bakersfield Raid Update

On Tuesday, May 29, federal agents raided the Seven Seas Collective in Bakersfield. The Kern County sheriff declined to comment on the ongoing investigation. According to witnesses at the scene, there were no arrests, however, the DEA confiscated medicine. We are still awaiting further information from the collective. If you have any details please contact ASA's Field Coordinator, Sonnet Seeborg Gabbard: sonnet@safeaccessnow.org .

Vindictive prosecution ruling and defiant witnesses are highlights in federal medical marijuana trial

A federal jury came to a verdict in the Ed Rosenthal case on Wednesday afternoon. On the charges related to the Harm Reduction Center, a medical marijuana dispensary in San Francisco, the jury found Rosenthal not guilty of cultivation and distribution and deadlocked on a conspiracy count, which was subsequently dismissed by the prosecution. Rosenthal was found guilty of three federal felonies related to the cultivation and distribution of marijuana.

You may remember that Stephanie, her partner Tom, and actor Kevin Gage were arrested in 2002 by the DEA after a dually-deputized SFPD officer "inspected" their medical garden in San Francisco, then called in the DEA to arrest all three.

Please show your support for Stephanie and send her a Happy Birthday card! Never written to a prisoner before? Check out these
