former closet grower starting up again

Hello all!

I have lurked a couple days and learned a ton of new tricks since I last grew. Back in 1995, 1996 I did 3 consecutive hydroponic grows of 4 plants under a Son Agro 430W light. I grew an F1 hybrid from BC Seed Co... "Five-O" (thus the username) It was a Hawaiian Indica crossed with a Northern Lights #5. Very sweet tropical taste, very cerebral and social high with absolutely zero paranoids (which I an hyper sensitive to). If I could find that seed again, I'd be a very happy man. If anyone has a new recommendation that fits that description, I'd love to hear it. I haven't smoked regularly for 15yrs now because everything I try is either too potent or too paranoid and I have almost passed out a couple times. Getting control back and only smoking my own grow is the answer. I miss the whole connection to the plant aspect as well. Maybe some here can relate?

My recent change of employment will have me at home most days and I am going to set up a stealth grow under the staircase for now... a very tight isolated corner. 7ft x 3ft x only 3ft high. Something short in stature will have to do. Probably divide the space down the middle and have an 18 hour veg side, 12 hour flower side and just keep a rotation going. 2 deep root trays I think and I will give CFL's a shot this time to keep the heat manageable.

Future plans are to build a dedicated room 10 x 6 x 8 ft... once the kids leave home...

That's it for now... next step is to browse around the forums for ideas on a tasty tropical, cerebral, short strain...

Thanks for listening...

Re: former closet grower starting up again...

That's quite a gap in time between grows five-o... CFLs work great, giving off virtually no heat and saving you money on electricity costs. Looking forward to photos of the grow, I'm always fond of nice perpetual operation.

So... much has happened since November.

Built my grow space. Tweaked it many times. Have flip flopped at least 4 times between soil or hydro and various feeding set ups. Have bought seed, germed, sown and transplanted into soil. Patiently waited for preflowers. Impatiently forced flowering. Cut clones and rooted them, transplanted into soil, no hydro, no, back to soil....

Now that I think I have a decent little stealth grow underway, I will head over to the journals area and document how I got to where I am. Currently vegging 4 cloned femmes and their mother... planned on more, but of the 6 seeded plants, only one was female so I tossed 20 rooted clones and their 5 daddies. 2 months of fussing I hoped to be further along. Next seeds I get will be feminized, grow them out and select the best as a mother.

Summary: Blueberry x Hawaiian in soil, General Hydro Nutes, CFL's, ScroG
