Total, not including aluminium,
Yo were willing to spend $400 on the vipar, and used 575wall watts, This setup is $420 ( plus alumium, ) and uses around 650 watts, depending on how you set it.
5x5 would be cool, it would rock out a 5x4 or 5x3 space. There are alot of lumens and power that you can give this set-up. Would take some good alumium crafting, and thought out. I would do 3-20in panels, because you can get the 3ft x 2ft alum from lowes, and cut holes in them to fit Cob onto, because this setup will be using heatsink and fans, or you could spend extra $120 on Pin heatsinks, up to you.

You can go a totally different direction, with LED strips,. This is what Im doing.
It on the basis of Quantum boards,
My plan consists of 20 LED strips, layed out on 1/8inch aluminum sheet.
If you went this direction, youd be looking at around $250 out the door.
70,000 lumens with this set-up, 420-460 watts at the wall.
Cooler, no need for fans, but I might use some, Because I want to run them a bit brighter.
For the price, cant beat it.
