Male verses female

After reading that most people destroy male plants and do everything they can to keep female plants from seeding, I got curious.

Is the male plant poisonous in any way?

Does it not produce the chemicals needed to get high?

How can you tell a female from a male plant?

Is the male plant useful for anything?

I know, these are probably super basic questions but I honestly am ignorant and would like to know.

1. No

2. They do but not like a female does, it's like drinking near beer... LOL

3. Females will have a couple of "pistils" while the males will show "balls". Here is a link to help you learn to identify the two:

4. They are good for the pollen they produce. The pollen is what fertilizes the female and allows her to produce seed.
They are considered a bad thing in most home gardens but are highly prized (the right male) in a breeders line of work.

Thanks for the info. I have not really spent much time in the grow section so I guess I was looking in the wrong spot. Interesting facts about the difference between male and female plants. Thanks again.
