A West Side man was ordered held in lieu of $15,000 bail Sunday afternoon after authorities said he accepted a shipped parcel that contained 32 pounds of marijuana that would have fetched $232,000 on the street.

Jeranda Lloyd, 45, of the 900 block of North Massasoit Avenue was charged with one count of possession of more than 5,000 grams of cannabis, according to court records.

Cook County Assistant State's Atty. John A. Reich said a drug-sniffing dog spotted the suspicious cardboard box Thursday at a Chicago-area United Parcel Service facility. Company officials contacted police, who opened the package and discovered the marijuana.

Authorities resealed the package and an undercover police officer delivered it to Lloyd Friday afternoon, according to court records.

"The defendant did accept the package, sign for it and open it," Reich said. Lloyd was arrested a few blocks from his home shortly after the box was delivered.

UPS tracking information indicated the package came from Gardena, Calif., a suburb of Los Angeles.
