Mesa Cty Colorado To Put Medical Marijuana On The Ballot

Mesa County Commissioners in Colorado have taken hours of public comment and decided that the ultimate decision should be put to the ballot. So the question of whether dispensaries should be banned in the county will appear on the November ballot.

The decision likely came as a surprise to Mesa County Sheriff Stan Hilkey, who stood before the Commission and demanded that they either ban dispensaries or put the question to the ballot. The Commissioners voted to spend the $122,000 (or more) it will cost and put the question to voters.

Medical marijuana advocates, interestingly, have been calling for the issue to be "left alone" as the People of Colorado have already made their voices heard in favor of MMJ.
