Miracle-Gro Eyes Medical Marijuana Market

If there's one example of why you should pay attention to new laws and legislation, this is it.

Taking advantage of laws in 16 states that permit the use of medical marijuana, Scotts Miracle-Gro, known primarily for its high-impact soil and plant food, is in the process of expanding into the pot market.

The medical marijuana market, that is. And it's projected to reach $1.7 billion in sales this year.

The rationale for Miracle-Gro marijuana stems from the lack of growth in the distributor market, reports The Wall Street Journal. To increase sales, the company is looking to smaller, niche markets for which it can develop and sell products.

One of those markets is clearly in medical marijuana.

Though you don't need to expand into such controversial areas of business, this is a great example of how the law can open up new opportunities that were not previously there.

When states legalize certain behaviors, relax restrictions, pass policy initiatives, initiate tax breaks, and implement funding programs, they are giving business owners an opportunity to expand into new markets and grow.

So, how can you keep up to date with legislative and legal changes that may impact your business?

While we here at Free Enterprise monitor national legislation that impacts small businesses, for more state-specific information get in touch with your local Chamber of Commerce. They often have a heads-up on legislation that may or may not be good for business.

And who knows? You may find your very own Miracle-Gro marijuana.

Yea....me good friend works for the largest painting contractor in portland with over 50 painters. They used to drug test....when I asked my friend how his pee testing was going he told me that his boss had finally realized that if he tested his employees he would lose the majority of his good painters to failing pee tests....so he quit testing unless he sees someone tweeking on meth or he suspects heroin use.

sounds good to me. If miracle-gro makes some fert that is good for weed besides the blue stuff ( its ok but it can be better) id buy it asap because I know its going to be pretty good and cheap.

Interesting article! While I swear by Miracle Gro for my Tomatoes and Jalapeno pepper crops, I have stopped using it on my Cannabis plants unless I see some very distinct Nitrogen deficiency issues with a new strain or clone. The blue stuff does wonders with pale greens or yellowing leaves! Nothing seems to work as good or as fast!

But for everyday MJ care and feeding, I've become a big fan of FoxFarm over the last 6 months mainly because of how well it worked in saving a few sickly clones I paid good money for and didn't want to give up on. Fed the dying things a steady diet of BIG BLOOM for a week and by God, it brought them back from the brink and now they are some of the healthiest looking plants I have going right now!

But I digress... ;) The fact that Scotts is even eying the medical MJ customer base is definitely a sign of the times. In these tough economic times, MJ is one of the few true growth industries, no pun intended! lol! :)

Aloha!

The Miracle-Gro that works for pakalolo is "Miracle-Gro TOMATO Plant Food!

I grow organic, but this stuff is especially great when you have a plant that is having Nitrogen uptake problems. I know folks who just use this....

a hui hou!
