Long time HID grower looking to build a Good LED light looking for input.

Looking at (4) Citizen CLU048-1212 Gen 6 80CRI 3500K at $15.00 each
OR (4) Citizen CLU048-1818 Gen 6 80CRI 3500K at $24.00 each

Is it worth spending the extra $'s and go with the 1818 over the 1212?

Also thinking of driving them at 1050ma any inputs or suggestions welcome

Thanks

Id go luminus cobs, $19 a piece, C2100B driver, or C1400B if you looking to run softer. they rock. what size area u using?

with the 1400B, I get 1100 PAR at 16inches, which is plenty. ( of course, directly under COB ) using reflectors. in a 3x3, using 300 watts, at 20 inches, getting 600 PAR pretty much entire area

What size grow area?

Get 2700K or 3000K 90CRI if you plan to flower with them.

Get a 1400 mA driver so you can power them at ~50w max each, the efficiency won't drop much if you dim down to as low as 700 mA, the cost bump when going up a size in driver is pretty low.

It's been a while, but last time I checked the best Citizen COBs were the clu058 1825.

The Luminus COBs (CXM22 gen 3) gets you the best efficacy per $ paid upfront compared to other COBs (In USA, in EU it's Vero or Citizen, because of VAT and import charges on the CXM's)

On another note, have you thought about using Strips? Much easier to build with, and better efficacy and spread ;)
