President Barack Obama has pushed back to 1 p.m. his fundraising visit to San Francisco Tuesday -- and the medical marijuana advocates planning to mark the occasion of his visit with a protest have adjusted their schedules as well.

Obama is now scheduled to touch down at San Francisco International Airport at 12:45 p.m. Pacific time. He will attend a fundraising lunch -- a later lunch than originally planned, so the $7,500-per-plate crowd among us may do well with a late breakfast -- at the W Hotel at 2:10 p.m.

The City's medical marijuana community -- dispensary operators, legal cultivators and patients who depend on the magic plant for their daily tonic -- plan to assemble on the northwest corner of Mission and Third streets near the W Hotel at 1 p.m. Tuesday, according to reports.

Outrage has been fomented over the past several weeks ever since the United States attorneys for California sent a series of letters to state-legal medical marijuana dispensaries, ordering them to shut down or face stiff penalties.

Obama had promised on the campaign trail to not use scarce federal resources to circumvent state law, but somewhere along the line, the president changed his mind.
