SHARON SPRINGS _ A SUNY Cobleskill professor was arrested Wednesday for allegedly having a marijuana-growing operation at his home.

Peter H. Van Deusen, 59, of Sharon Springs, was charged with unlawfully growing marijuana, a misdemeanor.

State police at Cobleskill conducted a two-week investigation that culminated in search warrant executed at Van Deusen's home last Tuesday, according to a media release from troopers.

Van Deusen, who was not at home at the time of the search, turned himself in at the Cobleskill state police barracks the next day, troopers said.

Van Deusen, a professor at SUNY Cobleskill, was issued an appearance ticket for Thursday in Sharon Town Court. He is a professor in the agriculture and engineering department, troopers said.

The growing equipment was described as extensive.
