San Diego Skunk Wars

Oldgrowth

My plants have lots of room to move both in the ground and in 10 gal containers that are packed with organic soil and nutrients that are quite odiferous. The aroma and loose soil contrasted with the characteristic hard soil that abounds here must be irresistibly attractive to a skunk likely wandering for female companionship that announces its presence with its own aroma-highly resistible for me of course. I'm live and let live until they start to dig where my ladies in soil are vegging, then it's war! (The container plants I believe are safe from any skunky solo climbs.) I've learned a couple of tricks to discourage such invasions using ammonia or coyote urine that I'll be employing. Smells that suggest predator urine redirect them to elsewhere. As I'm early in my campaign I'd sure appreciate input from other growers about the effectiveness of these methods and others they might have tried. I don't want to hurt or live trap them or damage the growing medium. Thank you in advance.
