Sexing clones: Root and then 12/12, or 12/12 from cutting?

I've got some cuts off a little outdoor plant I have, and I want to sex them as quickly as possible. I'm wondering though if it's a better idea to start the cloner off under continuous light to develop roots, and then switch to 12/12 to promote flowering, or if that would just make it take more time verus just rooting them under 12/12 from the start.

Does anyone have personal experience trying both?

I decided to start on 12/12, and bump up the light if I see them having signs of trouble.

I've tried it in a DWC cloner. It works but took 2 1/2 - 3 weeks to show sex. I've only done it a couple of times. After I determined the sex I tossed them into the compost
