:)IN THE LATE 60'S AND EARLY 70"S IN THE ARMY ,HALF THE PEOPLE WERE POT HEADS AND THE OTHER HALF WERE DRINKERS.SO THE POT HEADS ALWAYS HAD TO GET AWAY FROM THE DRINKERS. THERE WAS A CODE FRASE TO LET EVERYONE KNOW IT WAS SMOKE TIME AND TO HEAD TO THE SMOKE SPOT. USUALLY ON THE ROOF TOP. THE CODE FRASE WAS" LETS BE DOING SOMETHING" OR JUST" BE DOING SOMETHING" SOMEWHERE ALONG THE WAY SOMETHING GOT DROPPED,AND THE WORDS WERE CHANGED AROUND... WHAT DOES THAT GIVE YOU "DOBE"

WELL THATS WHERE I THINK THE WORD DOBIE CAME FROM, ANY OTHER THOUGHTS?;):high-five:

Skinny wheres that cheech pic you had????? Love it!!!! And yeah im with skinny sounds good!!!! But yet ima stoner too!!!!

There it is my wifi was goofy!!! Sorry

I was enlisted 69 to 71, and remember word-play with 'be'. Barracks talk won't go national unless an individual comes from there, makes big music, and be mo influential. Did Doobie Bros serve? When?
I find this myth plausible ;)

PS: Before internet & bloody cell phones, Boot Camp was where most of us first met people from somewhere other than our home town, aside from crazy relatives. Culture shock, big time. Humor is the 'Great Equaliser', and we laughed at each other, and sometimes at ourselves ie: "Why did I join this insane green mofo?" answer: "Cause you stupid an ditten lissen a yo mama!"
