Are there any benefits to this lighting that I should be aware of? How does it compare /contrast to a regular Lamp? Does it generate more or less heat? Provide for more light? Any answers /explanations would be appreciated.

well man, it looks like they only make vertizontal reflectors. unless, you know something i don't. in that case, please share everything you know about these vertizontal lights. cause i'm only finding reflectors

LOL! Its the medicine. Yes. I meant reflectors.(I need to put this stuff down.)
parabolic reflectors give a very even spread of light and your canopy should be also, very good shades, why not don't u go with a grostar! there much better!

Thanks. I agree with you about the grostar. The lighting package Im about to order doesnt offer one though.=( When I become an advanced and more knowledgeable grower like you Dean, I wil most definitely invest in one.
