It's because you want the plant to uptake the proper nutrients at the right times during the cycles. Miracle grow can be good in veggie gardens but the time release nutes are what causes the problems. Sometimes they get burnt or show heavy deficiencies throughout the grow and you add more nutes then cause problems. If you ever get a chance run a different soil. I promise you won't go back.
