Why get a bubbler?

i am about to buy a bowl but my friend said to get a bubbler. i was wondering:
what is a bubbler?
is it better than a piece?
what are the pros/cons?

Ive had the privelage to hit up my friends sidecar bubbler on friday. It was so cool. Im not going to trade in my bong or pipe anytime soon for one, but im definitely looking into buying one. I love the sidecar ones, i dont really like the looks of the sherlock ones. Me and my friend got both the pipe and bubbler for 40 bucks. not a bad deal.

I know Iam going to get blazed for this but I like my one-hiter. It looks like a cig if your not to close and it can go anywere with me....

I also dont smoke a lot and thus have a low tolerence.....
