Kern County voters could soon have the chance to legalize medical marijuana dispensaries in the general election.

The dispensaries are currently banned, but an initiative to overturn the ban now has enough signatures that it could appear on the November ballot.

With more than 20,000 signatures, Kern Citizens for Patient Rights says the community is ready to stand behind medical marijuana.

However, Kern County elections officials said all the signatures have yet to be verified and until they all are, the initiative will not be on the ballot.
