Marijane moving forward.

A bill to establish a system for legalized, recreational marijuana in Connecticut has passed a legislative committee for the first time.

The effort gained some added momentum this year because Massachusetts is on the verge of having a regulated, legal recreational marijuana system in place making it easy for Connecticut residents to partake with the all revenue going to the Bay State.

One of the biggest advocates of legalized marijuana is the highest ranking Democrat in the Assembly, Senate President Pro tem Sen. Martin Looney (D-New Haven).

Speaker of the House Rep. Joe Arisemowicz (D-Berlin) has committed to an up or down vote in the House on the issue.

The Governor does not support the idea and says he doubts there would be enough money to establish the regulator agency personnel that would be needed.
