After spotting a minivan going well under the speed limit in Madison County, state troopers found 12 pounds of pot and a narcotic cough syrup inside the vehicle.
The driver of the Dodge minivan, Marcus O. Scott, 42, of Chandler, Arizona, was arrested on charges of felony possession of marijuana, possession of prescription drugs without a prescription and driving with a canceled license, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Scott was driving about 10 miles under the speed limit and impeding the flow of traffic when Trooper Nate Cabe pulled him over, said Maj. Christopher Blackmon.
Cabe noticed a strong smell of marijuana and deployed a police dog, Tyson, who alerted to the presence of drugs. A search found a cardboard box containing the weed, eight pint-sized bottles of the cough syrup, promethazine with codeine, and $4,000 in cash.
