All recreational marijuana facilities are now banned in Randolph, after the Town Council upheld the voter-approved ban that was on a ballot question last fall.

The ban will apply to all facilities that grow or distribute recreational marijuana, and applies to all areas of town.

Facilities for growing and selling medical marijuana are still allowed in some areas of town, but none has yet been approved, said Town Council President Arthur G. Goldstein.

The council approved the measure 7-1 at its Jan. 8 meeting. Former town councilor Paul Meoni had asked the council to consider amending the measure to ban only selling recreational marijuana.

However, town attorney Christine M. Griffin said that measure could not be altered since it was contingent upon the ballot question.
