49ers linebacker Reuben Foster was arrested in Tuscaloosa, Ala. on Friday and charged with possession of marijuana, according to the Sheriff of Tuscaloosa County’s website. Bond was set at $2,500.
Foster remained in jail as of 10 p.m. local time, according to a report from the Anniston Star. Foster’s inmate record has since been taken down from the website.
The 49ers released a statement:
“The San Francisco 49ers organization is aware of the matter involving Reuben Foster and we are currently gathering all relevant facts.”
Foster, the No. 31 overall pick in the 2017 NFL draft, last April was notified by the league that a urine sample taken at the scouting combine came back as dilute and was treated as a positive test in accordance with the league policy. Foster had his draft party sponsored by a company that makes tobacco and marijuana vaporizers.
The promising linebacker finished second on the 49ers with 72 tackles in 10 games. He missed time with a high ankle sprain and rib injuries, and dealt with multiple shoulder stingers late in the season.
