The first medical marijuana dispensary in Pasco County will open on Wednesday in New Port Richey.

Trulieve, which operates numerous medical marijuana dispensaries across the state, will open a location at 5623 Highway 19.

“Our goal has always been to provide patients access to quality products and we’re ecstatic that we’re the first Medical Marijuana Treatment Center in Pasco County,” said Trulieve CEO Kim Rivers in a statement to 8 On Your Side.

“We have a large number of patients in the area that we’ve been able to help thanks to our statewide delivery program but we know that having a location in Pasco will help us continue bringing safe, customized, and effective care to the patients that need it most.”

The opening comes the morning after a stay by a Florida judge hastening her decision that the state’s provision banning smokable marijuana is unconstitutional.

Currently, Florida law does not allow for the cultivation, distribution and sale of the actual cannabis plant in dispensaries.

Methods of delivering the drug currently include vaporizers, tinctures, syringes, capsules, a nasal spray, edibles and a topical cream.

Trulieve currently delivers statewide and has 14 other dispensaries including locations in Clearwater, Tampa, St. Pete, and Bradenton.
