Medical marijuana patients will have a new option to get their pot.
Curaleaf, which has pot retail outlets in Miami-Dade and Lake Worth, will be adding a new store with a drive-thru option in Palm Harbor just northwest of Tampa. The company says it’s the first dispensary in Florida with a drive-thru.
The marijuana dispensary will open Tuesday and have a ribbon cutting at the store, 35388 US Highway 19 North, Palm Harbor.
The idea behind the drive-thru is to make it easier for patients who may have physical challenges getting into the store because of their disabilities and medical conditions, said Lindsay Jones, president of Curaleaf Florida.
“We are piloting the drive-thru concept in Palm Harbor to provide our patients, several of which have physical disabilities, with another option for access and convenience,’’ she said.
Like its Kendall store in Miami-Dade that opened in September at 9002 S. Dadeland Blvd., the new store will have private consultation areas and products such as cannabis capsules, oils, vaporizer pens and cartridges for patients who have a prescription and a state of Florida identification card for medical marijuana use.
The company will also have an educational session “Medical Cannabis 101,” so that consumers can learn more about medical marijuana, its uses and benefits.
The drive-thru is for current Curaleaf customers who will have the option of placing their orders online for pick up. New customers must have a consultation before being able to use the drive-thru.
The store will also provide same-day or next-day delivery in Pasco, Hernando, Citrus, Levy, Marion, Sumter, Northern Pinellas and Hillsborough counties. The Dadeland store also offers free deliveries in Miami-Dade, Monroe, Broward, Palm Beach counties.
In January, the company opened its Lake Worth location at 1125 N. Dixie Highway Suite C. The company is also opening a store on June 21 in Palm Bay, 1420 Palm Bay Road NE, just south of Melbourne.
