Blue Cheese first grow, the story so far.

Hi guys and gals, first ill explain my set up and then touch on the problems. So basically, yes, this is my first grow. Which is indoors. We have a 4 x 6 growing tent. Hanging approx 2 1/2 feet above the plants there is HPS 400w, a few weeks into veg we used MH for a short period, after observing their growing, or lack of grow shall we say, we decided to revert back to HPS. Anyway, back to the set up. We have two fans one an extractor and the other 16inch pedestal which is directed at the plants..

3 Blue cheese, now 7 weeks 4 days into veg. 2 which seem to be filling out quite well. The other which claims to be the tallest, stands at nearly 2 foot tall. But it's plain to see she's lacking a bit of weight around the edges. (Check out pic)

All mix soil sits in 5 litre pot. In terms of nutes we have been feeding Bio Grow from day 1. This has been added in every watering cycle. Little birdie told me this kind of plant can be a little sensitive to nutes so we have recently started to skip feeds ie water, feed, water, feed etc.... Bear this in mind when I move on to the next topic..

Since few weeks into veg there has been a discoloration on the leaves, This merely affects the leaves on the lower parts. I have took a pic of the leaves I took off today to show you all.

Also we have trouble keeping the temperature adequate, need to regularly leave the doors and flapps open to reduce heat. Today when I checked the temperature was just below 90F...has since cooled down.

Might be worth my while mentionoing we have the cleanest drinking water in my country so the PH is perfect and would not be an issue.

Check the pic. Would appreciate any advice.
Thanks

Hi there. I'm doing my first hydro grow now, which is pretty large, but have about 3 years experience growing in soil beforehand.
I'm noticing a few things, judging by the pics and the info you provided:
1. The pots you have them in are quite small for the plants to be grown to this size in vegetative growth. If they were mine, I'd transplant them to at least 15 l pots before switching to flowering. The root development in the first 2 weeks of flowering is massive and yours look like they're probably already root-bound.
2. The plants look a bit droopy. Usually it's one of two things, over-watering or under-watering. Make sure to water them heavily when the pot is light and then only water them again when the pot is light again. By light I mean easy to pick-up.
3. I wouldn't get too worried about the discolored-wilting bottom leaves. It just looks like a minor Nitrogen deficiency. It might be due to the fact that you're not feeding them enough nutrients (but don't go crazy feeding them either). Try incremental increases in nutrient at each feeding and stop when the plant looks healthy. It might also be due to the fact that the root mass it has is struggling to assimilate enough nutrients from the soil because there simply isn't enough soil mass to harbor enough nutrients for such a large plant. So again, I would transplant them to 15 l pots.
4. The heat issue isn't a minor issue. Try not to go beyond 85 degrees.

Good luck dude.

just keep the heat under control the best way that you can or invest in strains that can take it ,( kaya gold, LSD, critical mass, aurora indica etc.) cause the heat can slow the growth off the plant, and another thing is you are leaving them to veg for to long in such a small space 4 to 5 weeks is good enough.

Hi, thanks for your time replying .:thumb:
We've took your advice and transferred them into 15L pots. They seem to be doing great. Just done the swith to flowering. Will be updating in a few weeks with pics. Thanks again dude :icon_cool

Cheers. They are on 12/12 now. Fingers crossed
